Role Overview – DIH Intern, Data Engineering
The DIH Intern – Data Engineering role sits within Lowe’s Data and Insight Hub (DIH), the central data engineering function responsible for translating business requirements into scalable data solutions. As a Data Engineering Intern, you will work closely with the BI Engineering and Platform Engineering teams to build and maintain data curation pipelines, support Hadoop cluster administration, and help design hybrid cloud-based data architectures. This is a fully on-site role where you will collaborate with experienced data engineers and gain enterprise-level exposure to big data ecosystems, cloud platforms, and modern data engineering tooling.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Pipeline Development: Build, maintain, and enhance data curation pipelines that ingest, transform, and load large volumes of structured and unstructured data across the Lowe’s data platform.
- Hadoop Cluster Administration: Work alongside the platform engineering team to administer and support Hadoop clusters, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and reliability of the big data infrastructure.
- Hybrid Cloud Data Solutions: Assist in designing and implementing hybrid cloud-based data solutions that integrate on-premises big data systems with cloud platforms to support analytics and reporting needs.
- Enterprise Application Support: Support the development, configuration, and modification of integrated enterprise data applications.
- Systems Testing: Assist in Systems Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Business Requirement Translation: Translate business requirements into technical data engineering specifications.
